At this stage of the project, the GUARDIANS technologies are going through the first tests. All technology providers are developing their technologies and coordinating with SERIDA – the GUARDIANS partner in charge of organizing the first tests before going on the field in the real pilots.
SERIDA testbeds, distributed throughout Asturias, are innovation hubs where pioneering technologies in the agri-food sector are tested.
The farmers will play a key role as end users, trying out the new technologies in real life, on their farms.
They have already been involved in the development process so that their current needs and challenges can be better understood.
In this interview series – two interviews per month – we will let you meet one farmer per technology tested. You will discover their feelings, expectations and concerns, as they unveil their history and traditional know-how.
The Farm Stories series is designed to let you enter the farmers’ lives and put yourself in their shoes while waiting for technologies to be tested on their farms.
The GUARDIANS project runs six pilot cases to test technologies under different socio-economic, climate, and biodiversity conditions to foster sustainable farming approaches.
Each pilot case represents a different challenge faced by small- and medium-sized farms (resource efficiency, climate adaptation, biodiversity preservation, sustainable farming, climate mitigation, labour optimisation).
One pilot leader, one technology provider and at least one agricultural cooperative, aggregating different end-user farms, are working together to implement the pioneering farming practices developed by the project.
Stay tuned for the Farm Stories part 2 – Technologies in the field!
