The initiative was led by the Asturian Cooperative CAMPOASTUR, partner of the GUARDIANS project. It brought together farmers and technicians to show how digital solutions and advanced tools can respond to the real needs of the agricultural sector, improving productivity, supporting decision-making processes and strengthening the long-term resilience of agricultural systems. The workshops also provided an opportunity for direct exchange between stakeholders, fostering knowledge sharing and discussion around key challenges faced by the sector daily.
The first workshop, held in Tineo, marked the beginning of a series of technical sessions focused on digitalisation and automation in livestock farming. Participants were introduced to a range of innovative solutions, including tools based on artificial intelligence, digital decision-support systems and technologies designed to optimise farm management practices.
Special attention was given to the practical application of emerging technologies, such as the use of drones for monitoring and managing grasslands, as well as automated systems like robotic milking machines, which are becoming increasingly relevant in modern farming.
The GUARDIANS project was also presented during the workshop, showcasing its approach to developing innovative solutions that support farmers in improving efficiency, sustainability and overall farm performance.
The second workshop, held in Otur, further reinforced these objectives, with a particular focus on the role of artificial intelligence in livestock management and on the importance of continuous training to support the digital transition of the sector.
Overall, the workshops highlighted the importance of bridging innovation and practice, confirming that the adoption of digital technologies is a key driver for a more sustainable, efficient and future-oriented agricultural sector.
